Why Black Breastfeeding Awareness Week?
Black Breastfeeding Awareness Week, observed annually from August 25-31, was created to address the unique cultural and systemic barriers Black mothers face when it comes to breastfeeding. The week serves to raise awareness, promote the health benefits of breastfeeding, and support Black mothers in their breastfeeding journeys. It’s a time to advocate for policy changes, educate the community, and celebrate the achievements of breastfeeding mothers who are making a positive impact on the health and well-being of their children and future generations.
